Round Rock School Community Mourns Fourth-Grade Student After Bike Crash

The Round Rock community is grieving after a fourth-grade student from Teravista Elementary died days after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike.

According to Round Rock ISD, Patrick Case was in a crosswalk at the intersection of Teravista Parkway and Teravista Club Drive at about 3:40 p.m. on April 1 when the collision happened. School officials later shared that Patrick died Wednesday evening.

In a message to families, Teravista Elementary Principal Michael Wakefield said Patrick was deeply loved by classmates and teachers and described the loss as heartbreaking for the entire school.

The crash happened roughly a mile southwest of Teravista Elementary, near 4419 Teravista Club Drive. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating.

On Thursday, the campus made counseling support available for students and staff. School leaders encouraged parents to listen closely if children have questions or feelings about the loss and reminded families that grief can look different for every child, including delayed reactions over days or weeks.

District leaders said the school community is focused on supporting students and staff as they process the tragedy together.
