5 People Killed In Collision

A two-vehicle wreck in the Texas Panhandle left five people dead and one seriously hurt.

Investigators said a minivan driven by, a 14-year-old girl and a truck hauling oversized machinery collided about 10 miles north of Pampa on Wednesday afternoon.

Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Tela Mange said Thursday that all of the victims were in the minivan, which crossed the center line into oncoming traffic on Texas 70.

DPS identified the dead as driver Aime Banuelos, 14, Juan Banuelos; 15, Jeff Pace, 16, and Teresa Martinez, 46, all of Booker, and Estafana Cortez-Rosales of Perryton, 74.

Spokeswoman Caytie Martin at Northwest Texas Healthcare Systems in Amarillo said Celeste Espitia, 5, of Booker was listed in satisfactory condition.

DPS had no details on the relationship of the victims. The truck driver was not hurt.
