An Austin woman was rushed to a San Antonio hospital Wednesday morning after slamming head-on into an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35 in New Braunfels.

Police in New Braunfels said officers received numerous calls about a vehicle headed north in the southbound lanes of the interstate shortly after 3 a.m.

As they headed to the area, the received word that the vehicle had barreled into a big rig headed south.

When emergency responders arrived, they found the wreckage and debris blocking the entire southbound side of the highway.

Police said the woman, 26, was pinned inside of her vehicle, and had to be cut out before being taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash.

The southbound lanes of the 4200 block of the highway were completely shut down for several hours while authorities investigated the crash.

What Our Clients Say

After my accident, I didn't know where to turn or what to expect walking into all of this. Then someone recommended Mr. Traub to me, and I am very grateful they did! He was very patient in explaining the legal processes to me from the start and lent a lot of encouragement and compassion along the way. I had an excellent outcome with my case thanks to Mr. Traub and his staff's hard work and persistence.
