North Austin collision leaves 1 dead

A head-on collision Sunday morning on North Lamar Boulevard left one person dead, two others with potentially life-threatening injuries and another with potentially serious injuries, authorities said.

Austin police said a third vehicle was involved in the crash but left the scene. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were able to track down and arrest the driver, police said. Investigators did not release any names or the charges the driver faces.

Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin firefighters responded to the call about 3:45 a.m. at 9909 N. Lamar Blvd. One person was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Two people were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries, EMS said, and a third was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with potentially serious injuries. A fourth person refused to be taken to a hospital.
